b) Twin Extruder

The twin extruder technology was built specifically to minimize production times. And also offer all round precision.

The two extruders have a double drive gear arrangement. This provides three times the effectiveness of a normal FDM printer for the desktop.

The MakerBot Method X 3D Printer is expected to deliver quick and slick extrusion, given the rapid motions and velocity. This is thanks to the extruders’ longer heated core length of 48.2 mm, which is about twice as long as a normal hotend.

Sensors on the extruders detect flow of material and potential clogs.  Thus allowing changes to be made to prevent any kind of print loss. 

The technology is certainly important for printing complex pieces. As the device can print items with solvent support filaments like PVA. 

c) Enclosed Filament Chamber

The MakerBot Method X is a more costly version of the MakerBot Method 3D printer. 

The original MkaerBoat Method, which focuses on PVA and PLA costs $4999 (€4999). Whereas, the Method X, which can handle all types of materials, costs roughly $6499 (€6499).

For the extra cost, one can make use of more durable materials. 

This could be helpful not just for testing models, but also for manufacturing industry grade parts. 

Such as fixtures, jigs, and other ancillary pieces, which 3D printers are frequently used for!

Makerbot advertises a lot about this machine’s all-round precision capability.

To be fair, every item that emerges from Method X’s pre-heated build platform is quite well inside the promised 0.2mm margin of tolerance. And that too, by a large factor – even with the tough Z build axis.
